Welcome to Whisky Flight

Hello and welcome. I am Nick Walker and my hobby and passion is Scottish Whisky. I am fascinated by its history, its legends and myths, its wide spectrum of tastes and colours, and the people. I called my site "whisky flight" as I am a great believer in trying out new whiskies and the best way to do that is in a flight. A flight of four or five whiskies gives you the chance to compare, rank, assess and discover what you like and what you do not like. See, smell and taste the differences.

The Whisky Hut ... Lovely and Warm Inside!

But why am I creating this site? Well, whisky became an interest of mine many years ago when my wife very generously bought me a cask of whisky as a birthday present. It was a Springbank cask, and was stored in one of the distillery warehouses in Campbeltown. I visited the cask with a friend of mine, and after a tour and tasting bought a second cask; which turned out to be one of the very first Hazelburn casks. After several trips to Campbeltown and adding two more Springbank casks to my collection, my interest was born. And it soon became a passion. My curiosity set me on a path to learn more about Scotch whisky; about the distilleries, the history, the legends, the myths and the incredible facts about Scotch whisky. 26 years further on, with a collection of over 250 individual and limited edition whiskies, I decided to share what I have learned through talks, tastings and now this my website and my home of my regular blog.

I have built a whisky hut in my garden at home, where I regularly have friends and family come over for a sample and a chat. And this is where I will sit and write my blogs.

Every couple of weeks, I will share a piece of what I have learned. I invite you to follow me by signing up here. I want to hear your own stories too. So please write back!
