Talks and Tastings
A way to enhance your special event
This site does not have a shop and I do not sell whisky. But I do like to share and talk about it! My whisky collection is predominantly limited bottlings. Many quite rare. A talk or a tasting can be a really great addition to a company meeting, a birthday, a family gathering, or just an evening with friends.

Tastings can be in-person, online or "hybrid". Samples can be distributed ahead of time.
A typical event is a mixture of:
- Whisky knowledge - its history, how it is made, and interesting facts around colour and taste influences
- Aroma training - identifying a variety of aromas that are present in various whiskies. Testing out your senses and training your nose
- Tasting - usually 4 or 5 different whiskies configured to the occasion
The selection of whiskies can be made from my personal collection of over 500 rare and limited bottlings. These are mainly limited distillery editions and offer a broad spectrum of taste, aroma and colour. Selection can be based on a theme or a region. I can also make recommendations depending on the group and experience with whisky.
From time to time, I also run open tastings. Dates and times of these will be posted and mentioned in my blog.
Whisky Tasting at Heiligenbergfeld Distillery
November 2024
Had a really great talk and tasting at Heiligen Berg Feld (See Blog Entry) with 19 people. The evening started with a tour of the distillery followed by a tasting of 6 drams.
Lindores Abbey 6 Year Old Limited Release was the welcome dram, followed by:
- Lochlea Single Cask: A limited edition of 312 bottles from the Aberdeen Whisky Shop. It was matured in an American Oak Ex-Red Wine Cask for 5 years and bottled at an ABV of 60.3%
- Heiligen Berg Feld Single Cask: A single cask matured in a PX cask for just over 3 years. Limited to 414 bottles with an ABV of 58,4%.
- Glenallachie Single Cask: Matured in a Bourbon cask for 10 years with an extra year in a Port Cask. Limited to 428 bottles with an ABV of 63.6%.
- Springbank Hazelburn: A bottling from the 2020 Virtual Open Day limited to 792 bottles. Matured for 18 years in a Bourbon cask and bottled at 47.4%.
- Heiligen Berg Feld Single Cask: A single cask matured in a Palo Cortado cask for just over 3 years. Limited to 395 bottles with an ABV of 58,5%.
- Isle of Raasay Dun Cana: Matured in Oloroso & PX Quarter Cask and bottled at 52% ABV. Bottle number 1422.
Fun was had by all with the last folks leaving at 2am!!!!
